For over 35 years, Woodside Child Care Center (WCCC) has provided a safe, relaxed, and happy afterschool program for children in grades K-6th as a community outreach of Woodside United Methodist Church. The program emphasizes a wide variety of secular activities including arts & crafts, sports, games, music, and cooking. The Center also has bikes & skates and use of a full-size gym. WCCC’s philosophy is that every child is an individual with thoughts, feelings, ideas, and interests. All children are treated with respect and are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility and self-reliance. With this philosophy as the backbone of the Center, it is able to provide a special sense of family.
WCCC is licensed by the State of Maryland and prides itself on the high quality of the program including:
- Small group sizes (about 15 children per group)
- Pleasant facilities
- Trained staff (according to licensing guidelines)
The Afterschool Program at WCCC provides care Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:30pm. When schools have early dismissals (1/2 days), the Center opens at 12:30pm to provide care for the remainder of the afternoon. On most school holidays, WCCC opens to provide care for the full day from 7:30am-6:30pm. These Full Days include breakfast and a snack; however, children must bring their own lunch on these days.
In the summer, WCCC runs a full day camp (Summer Splash Spectacular) for children who have completed Kindergarten and up through 5th grade. The hours of camp are 7:30am-6:00pm. The camp has 2-week themed sessions as well as swimming once a week and field trips once per session. Summer Camp also serves breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Summer Splash Spectacular is filled with a variety of activities including art, science, nature, performing arts, & sports. There is something for everyone!
